Description: The Center for Professional Development in Career and Technical Education at Temple University is seeking a part time Field Leadership Resource Associate (FLRA) to coordinate our Education Leadership Program. The successful candidate will start August, 2009. Requirements include certification as an administrative director or a superintendent’s letter of eligibility and experience as a practicing school administrator. Description: This administrative position will be available on or about August 1, 2009. Responsibilities include assisting the Superintendent in the plan and management of the District in compliance with pertinent laws, state regulations and the Board of Education policies. Description: Public School Notebook is seeking an energetic, versatile, and detail-oriented Operations/Business Manager, responsible for both administrative coordination of an award-winning nonprofit education newspaper and for ensuring continued growth of multiple income sources. Key responsibilities include ad sales, management of the membership program, special event coordination, database management, and coordination of distribution network. 7. Provide logistical support for production of Notebook print newspaper and website.
8. Work with director to manage finances and prepare budgets.

Qualifications:
• Demonstrated development or marketing skills; experience with sales and/or donor solicitation.
• Strong business management skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with database software and spreadsheets required.
• Previous nonprofit administrative and project management experience is a plus.
• Strong communications skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to work both collectively and independently; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Official Job Description

NFTE, the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship with global headquarters based in New York City, is seeking an Executive Director. The Executive Director will continue the development of an Advisory Board and implementation of an effective fundraising campaign that will support the expansion of NFTE in the Philadelphia Program Office area schools.

Organization Background

The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is an IRS approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. NFTE teaches entrepreneurship education programs to young people from low-income communities.

NFTE’s strategy for achieving this mission is to form partnerships with schools, universities and community-based organizations, create innovative experiential curricula, train and support teachers and youth workers, and provide supportive alumni services. Since its founding in 1987, NFTE has reached over 185,000 students. NFTE has active programs in 21 states and 14 countries.

Position

The Executive Director of NFTE is responsible for implementing the organization’s mission by setting the region’s goals, budget and strategies. Most importantly, the Director will spearhead and support fundraising and board development efforts. The Director will also oversee all Executive program activities, including expansion throughout the local area public schools. This includes creating new partnerships and maintaining existing relationships with NFTE partners in schools, universities, businesses and community-based nonprofit organizations. The director will also work with staff that support low-income and minority youth through alumni services programs, summer BizCamps and other programs.

NFTE is an entrepreneurial foundation that seeks someone with an entrepreneurial spirit and proven track record of managing a $500, 000 organization budget for a minimum of seven years. The Executive Director will be expected to be a self-starter, operate autonomously and in a nationally coordinated and supportive manner and serve more teachers and students each year. The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer based at NFTE Headquarters located in New York City. The Executive Director will work directly with a Board of Advisors comprised of local business, education and foundation leaders.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategy and leadership for individual, corporate and foundation fundraising efforts in order to support and increase a small staff and an annual budget of $500,000.00.
• Develop and serve as chief liaison to an Advisory Board comprised of civic, business, and education leaders from the community, whose mission is to support fundraising and outreach efforts for the local program office.
• Take the lead in growing NFTE strategically in the area by expanding scope of services, increasing partnerships and participants to achieve economies of scale.
• Serve as chief “sales person” and marketing staff for NFTE in an effort to develop new strategic partnerships and programs.
• Ensure accountability for all programs, annual plan achievement and support, including those in schools and community organizations, BizCamp, NFTE University Partners and Alumni services.
• Implement nationally led strategies and practices for measuring program value and impact, and performance improvement.
• Set and manage communications strategy and brand consistency, including serving as the primary contact person for all local media and public relations matters. Generate awareness and support for NFTE through periodic cultivation events and communication efforts such as e-newsletters, media features and periodic donor appeals.
• Coordinate communication efforts with the NFTE headquarters Director of Marketing and Communications.
• Manage, lead, and work collegially with a small professional staff in the program office responsible for developing and implementing programs above.
• Provide quarterly summaries of progress within the program area and to complete regular reports required by contracts and funders, in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Assure compliance with all accounting and financial management policies.
• Build and maintain a dynamic volunteer program.
• Coordinate activities and periodically participate with colleagues throughout the NFTE national organization located in New York City.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; a Masters degree preferred.
• Proven track record in nonprofit fundraising and advisory board management
• Minimum seven-year’s business experience, including responsibilities for budgeting and managing cash flow for an organizational budget of at least $500,000 annually.
• Experience working with nonprofit Boards that treat fundraising as a priority
• Proven ability to manage staff and build successful teams
